This was the first clinic I did and what better way than to kick it off with Derrick Green of Sepultura and Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. You may not be a singer and these techniques might not apply to you, but it’s still an interesting inside look at what rarely gets examined.

Backward masking seems so archaic now despite the ease to implement with digital technology. No one seems to care anymore but it was nonetheless an controversial method used in the 70’s and 80’s by bands whether or not they admit it. When we played some festivals with the Hives in 2004 I caught up with singer, Pelle Almqvist for a singer’s clinic. We did it backstage and right before he was to go onstage that day. I also caught up with David Johanson, legendary singer of The New York Dolls, Mr. Poindexter himself, and had a wonderful chat backstage in Bergen, Norway. I must admit I was a little star struck during this interview.

Take a classic rock outfit like Deep Purple, with it’s numerous members and play the “Six Degrees Of Kevin Bacon” game and you have a show that will stray as far away from rock as possible.

Eddie Spaghetti is one of rock’s most entertaining front men today. Touring with The Supersuckers in 2005 it was inevitable that I put a microphone in front of singer, Mr. Spaghetti’s mouth and press record on the tape player.

I love the Misfits. Who doesn’t love the Misfits? Did you know there is an entire genre dedicated to sounding like the Misfits? Sounds like something I’d be interested in. Check it out.
