Welcome to the MAGICAL WORLD OF ROCK WITH DANKO JONES website. I’ve been doing this one hour radio show for over 4 years now and it’s been a blast every step of the way. Each week I get to play a bunch of tunes that all have one common thread: ROCK. Whether it’s The Buzzcocks or Opeth, The Birthday Party or Ratt, Fugazi or Motorhead, as long as it rocking it’ll get spun on this show. No one tells me what to play either. I am the sole programmer and it’s a glimpse into what I’m listening to in my headphones or on my stereo on any given day.
The show started out as a theme show inspired by the History Of New Music by Alan Cross, but focussed on bands and themes that I found were often times overlooked and quite simply ignored. Over the years I’ve done spotlights on everything from Japanese Noise ROCK to Straight Edge, interviews with everyone from Mike Watt to Eddie Spaghetti and conducted Singer’s Clinics with David Johanson, Bruce Dickinson, Dave Wyndorf, Jeff Healey and many many more.
Our flagship station is Rocket FM (The ROCK Home Of Stockholm), but engineered by Jay Richardson at Power 97 in Winnipeg, Canada and spread out by Jonas Nilsson at Bad Taste Records. We are also syndicated to CT Das radio in Bochum, Germany and Radio Tango in Oslo, Norway.
